Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 25, 2026

1. Information we collect

The current version of SafeBrowse does not require an account and does not collect or sell your browsing history, page text, search queries, or personally identifiable information to a SafeBrowse server.

2. Information processed in your browser

SafeBrowse may inspect the URL, page title, and a limited amount of visible webpage text locally in your browser when blocking features are enabled. This is used to determine whether a page matches configured blocking keywords or rules. The current version is not designed to transmit this inspected page information to SafeBrowse.

3. Information stored

SafeBrowse uses Chrome extension storage for settings such as protection status, blocked domains, blocked keywords, and allowlisted domains.

4. Permissions

SafeBrowse requests browser permissions needed for website blocking and local content checks. The scripting permission is used for the user-initiated “Block current site” feature.

5. Third-party services

The current version does not intentionally send browsing content or stored blocking settings to third-party analytics, advertising, or data-broker services.

6. Advertising and sale of information

SafeBrowse does not sell user information and does not use browsing content for targeted advertising.

7. Security

No software can guarantee absolute security. SafeBrowse is designed to minimize data collection and does not require a SafeBrowse account.

8. Children's privacy

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Changes

We may update this policy when the Extension or its data practices change. The effective date will be updated when material changes are made.

10. Contact

Privacy questions: YOUR_SUPPORT_EMAIL.

Before publishing: replace the support email and verify this policy against the final extension. If you add analytics, remote APIs, accounts, advertising, or other data transmission, update the policy.
